By downloading, installing, or using Verse Overlay ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the App.
You must be at least 18 years of age to use Verse Overlay. By accepting these Terms, you confirm that you are 18 or older. If you are under 18, you are not permitted to use the App and must uninstall it immediately.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Surya Ganesh ("we", "us", "our"). Your continued use of the App following any update to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Verse Overlay is an Android application that displays sacred scripture verses as on-screen overlays during your normal use of your device. The App uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect when you open a new application, and surfaces a relevant verse from your chosen religious tradition at that moment. Features include:
The App is provided free of charge. We reserve the right to introduce optional premium features in future updates.
Verse Overlay presents sacred texts for personal reflection. It does not constitute religious advice, theological instruction, or spiritual guidance. Content is sourced from publicly available translations.
The verses displayed by the App are drawn from publicly available translations of sacred texts and are intended solely as a tool for personal contemplation. We do not claim authority over religious interpretation, doctrine, or practice. The selection and display of verses is automated and does not reflect any editorial, theological, or pastoral judgment.
If you have questions of a religious or spiritual nature, please consult a qualified religious authority within your tradition.
By using Verse Overlay, you agree that you will not:
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account credentials. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorised access to your account due to your failure to keep your credentials secure.
You may delete your account at any time by navigating to Settings → Account → Delete Account within the App. Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Upon deletion:
A minimal deletion audit record (timestamp and one-way email hash) is retained for legal compliance purposes and cannot be used to re-identify you.
If you uninstall the App without deleting your account, your account data will remain stored in Firebase until you request deletion.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Surya Ganesh shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the App.
We do not warrant that the App will operate without interruption, that it will be free of errors, or that defects will be corrected. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App at any time without notice.
Application UI and code — the design, code, graphics, and user interface of Verse Overlay are the intellectual property of Surya Ganesh and are protected by applicable copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without prior written permission.
Scripture texts — the sacred texts and verse content displayed by the App are either in the public domain or sourced from translations that are appropriately licensed for use. We make no claim of ownership over the original religious texts, which belong to the traditions and communities that hold them sacred.
The name "Verse Overlay" and associated logos are trademarks of Surya Ganesh. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks without prior written consent.
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time to reflect changes in the App's features, applicable laws, or our practices. When we make material changes, we will notify you via an in-app notification or a prompt upon the next App update.
The "Last updated" date at the top of this document will always reflect when the most recent revision was made. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid under applicable law, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
